Touring Guide of State of Puebla-México Tecali is a quiet town that maintains its well-preserved downtown. Its streets are straight, flat, neat, and they abound in onyx or alabaster shops and stores that sell their handmade products. Onyx Municipal Market is supplied by the local union craftsmen. There is also a craft shop at the entrance of the town. Tecali means "stone house" in Nahuatl this name precisely for its quarries of onyx, a stone and translucent material with a veneer of various colors and susceptible to polishing, comprising calcareous alabaster. Located 30 minutes from the state capital, is home to one of the most precious crafts resources of Puebla : onyx; for this very Tecali has become a must-visit site for tourists.
