The Museum of Non-intervention "Fuerte de Loreto" was opened in 1972, a fortress built in the eighteenth century and the site of the Battle of May 5, 1862 between Mexican and French armies. The site has been marked by spread of nationalism, identity and pride Mexicans.

The tour starts with a view of the area with flags, before entering the historical rooms, with themes as the Reformation, the history of the French invasion, intervention, armies in that war, and General Ignacio Zaragoza, who commanded Mexican troops.

In another room are explained facts about the Battle of Puebla, particularly in the area of the strong. The historical journey continues in the hall of empire and opposition thereto Juarez, Juarez's arrival to power, the restoration of the republic and the formation of the nation.

The collection consists of nineteenth-century historical artifacts, weapons, flags, documents, oil paintings, personal items and military clothing, ranging from the consummation of Independence until the restoration of the Republic. You should not ignore the letters of President Benito Juárez to General Ignacio Zaragoza, before and after the famous battle and the paintings of the generals who participated in the conference and military strategies employed in the French army's defeat.


The museum opens its doors to the public Tuesday through Sunday from 9:00 to 18:00 hours. Admission fee is 37 pesos. Exemption from payment to children under thirteen, students, teachers and elderly people with credentials. On Sunday admission is free. The use of camcorder is subject to a royalty payment.
